VILLA RUUSULA FOLK MUSIC SUMMER CAMPS 2009

4. JUNE 28 - JULY 2, 2010 FOLK MUSIC FOR EDUCATORS OF YOUNG CHILDREN AND ALL THOSE WORKING WITH FOLK MUSIC

THE CAMPS INCLUDE PLAYING INSTRUMENTS, SINGING AND DANCING

Your instrument may be a 5-, 10-, 15 or 39-string kantele. You may also receive training in the basics of playing a 2-row accordion, harmonium, bass, percussions or guitar. The camp also has a rhythm workshop. In addition, campers will be introduced to various other folk instruments and we will dance and sing every day.

PAYMENT Camps 1 and 2 cost 320 €, camp 3 costs  250 e / children or adult, or 600 e ( 1 adult  + 2 child. ) tai 750 e / ( 1 + 3 ) € and camp 4 costs 350 €. All prices include teaching, full accommodation, recreational activities and insurance for the duration of the entire camp.
 
REGISTER About 20 campers will be admitted to each camp in the order of registration. Confirm your place by paying a 50 € deposit with your registration. The remaining payment is to be paid by May 21, 2010. REGISTRATION FORM

TEACHERS The head instructors at the camps are Doctor of Music Sari Kaasinen, kantele and singing, Marjo Smolander, kantele and Jukka Kyllönen, guitar, bass and percussions. 

INSTRUMENTS If you do not have your own instrument ( kantele ), you may borrow one for the duration of the camp.

ACCOMMODATION Campers will stay in rooms for 4-6 people. Bring your own sheets or sleeping bag. It is also possible to stay in your own tent or caravan.

MEALS The price includes breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack, and dinner. Allergies and other restrictions concerning food will be taken into account. The food is good and there is enough for everyone!

FREE TIME The camp offers you other activities besides playing an instrument!! Recreational activities are organised by camp supervisors and the camp grandmother and grandfather, who may take you fishing or hiking on a nature trail, among other things. We swim and use the sauna every day. The beach is shallow and sandy. There is also a large trampoline and a playhouse outdoors.

VILLA RUUSULA Villa Ruusula in located in Rääkkylä, North Karelia, on the shores of Lake Pyhäselkä. The nearest railway station is in Kitee, 35 km away. The distance to Joensuu Airport is 70 km. We can help to organise transportation from the railway station or the airport to Villa Ruusula, if needed. Villa Ruusula is almost like being at a summer cottage!!

CAMP INSURANCE Campers are insured for the duration of the camp in case of injury. We recommend that you insure musical instruments through, e.g., home insurance.
